Chickpea Curry

  • 2 pcs onion green, brown or white
  • 3 Cloves garlic
  • 2 tbsp. vegetable oil or extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil
  • ½ tbsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp. ground cumin
  • 1 tbsp. kosher salt
  • 1 tbsp. ground coriander
  • 1 tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 tbsp. turmeric powder
  • 4 pcs ripe tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp. rose water
  • 4 Cups chickpeas
  • 4 Cups water
  • 1 Cup fresh green cilantro


  • First, heat the oil in a fry pan over medium heat. Add onion and garlic to hot oil and stir continuously until onion and garlic turned into golden brown. Combine cinnamon, cumin, salt, coriander, chili powder and turmeric powder, cook for 3 to 4 minutes in order to spread fragrance.
  • Pour chickpeas and tomatoes, stir some time. Add water and cover for simmering for 25 minutes on low heat (stir often).
  • When chickpeas become soft and tender,put aside the pan from heat. Sprinkle salt, black pepper and cilantro before set the plate.
