For wings

  • 2 cups cornstarch
  • 3 quarts vegetable oil
  • 8 pcs chicken wings (with skin or without skin your choice)
  • Salt
  • 1 tbsp. ground white pepper
  • 1/2 cup water

For sauce

  • 1 tbsp. minced garlic
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar or honey
  • 2-3 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1/2 tbsp. salt
  • 1/4 tbsp. white pepper
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tbsp. chili garlic sauce or crushed red pepper flakes if you like spice
  • 1 pc small onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 tbsp. rice vinegar
  • Fresh green chopped coriander leaves to garnish
  1. In a bowl take chicken wings and wash them. Drain water and dry the wings with a paper towel. Sprinkle salt and pepper all over the wings.

  2. Pour 2/3 amount of the cornstarch in a bowl. Add water and stir to make the batter. Take the rest of the cornstarch on a plate.

  3. Heat a frying pan on medium-low flame. Pour vegetable oil heat until oil is ready to fry. Once the oil is ready immerse the wings into the batter properly then coat the wings with dry cornstarch on the plate and arrange it in the hot oil. Put all 8 wings at a time if the pan is large enough. Cook for 5 minutes. Flip twice or thrice. Remove the wings from heat and keep the wings on a plate.

  4. Heat oil in a saucepan on medium heat. Add garlic and onion, fry for 1 minute or until tender, not brown. Add the rest ingredients and simmer for 5-8 minutes on low flame or until the sauce is thick. Remove the sauce from heat.

  5. Fry the chicken wings for another 5 minutes and flip so that both sides fry evenly.

  6. Remove fried wings from hot oil, drain excess oil and keep on a plate.

  7. Pour sauce on the wings or just mix sauce and wings to coat sauce thoroughly.

  8. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve.
