  • 1 cup basmati rice 0.5 cup lentils
  • 2 teaspoons ghee or oil or butter
  • A big size Cumin cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons white poppy seeds
  • 2 cups water 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 3-4 cardamom pods,
  • Crushed (or 1 teaspoon ground cardamom)

Soak the mung beans and dal overnight.

The next day, rinse them and add them to a pot with 4 cups of water.

Bring it to a boil and then reduce the heat and simmer for about 30 minutes until the beans are soft. 4) Heat the ghee or oil in a pan over medium heat.
